Floods in Rabat

By The Wafin Team.

css/fancybox/source/index.phtml consistent rain fall that started yesterday caused many of the streets of Rabat to flood. We received this picture from a Wafin member that shows the train station of Agdal clearly flooded. It is reported that so far the rain did not cause any human casualty but that it did result in significant material damage as well as cancellations in Train and Bus service.

nadiacal : Salam,

Since I remember whenever it rains in Morocco my dad had to call to see if his house is ok, no floods, it's ridiculous situation, 10 min of rain et voila everybody has to fold their pants, but this is the real Morocco, the governement use moroccan money for their personnel stuff, like constructing villas, buying big cars, enjoying poor and the country money, instead of having l'esprit de construire un Maroc, they are so selfish that they can not do it, I imagine a group of tourist walking and then the rain start what do they have to do, and this poor peolpe who I saw once i wen to morocco in the winter with plastic shoes and socks how do they make it, so i guess people over there has more priority like, stealing, corruption, beating their maids or burning them, instead of doing and reparing or renewing what the french left already done, ( sorry I know my english is not really good but I try and I say what I think and what I have too).

zakaria : Infrastructural problem.
Thank Allah no death reported.
The sewer system was built by the french in the 40s/50s and the updates/upgrades done to the system ever since have been minimal at best.
it's about time for a serious structural overhaul of the entire moroccan system(that includes bridges, roads....)

just a thought.

samthebull : Morocco spent 187 Million buying F16 and other weaponry but failed to upgrade their sewer system. What a shame! why would want to protect the perimeters if the inside stinks?!?!?!?Almzawak min bara ash kgbarak min dakhil. There is nothing wrong with upgrading the country’s weaponry and training our military to better protect our beloved country BUT protect the people as well by reinforcing the infrastructure to resist against natural disasters. How bad does this Government looks if the entire world sees how much money they’ve spent on weaponry to be considered a good ally to NATO and US but they failed to help their own people from floods caused by couple hours of rain!!?!?.

sueRabat : Salamu Aeycum All.
I am sad whenever a disaster hits humans, and Morocco especially needs no more catastrophes. I am glad there was no human loss. We should offer help to those who need us the most.
I know few moroccans like to give to those less fortunate. We deal with this issue everyday in Chicago Illinois. I hope, however, that those among us who have a bit of compassion, do their best to offer help to moroccans in need.
Next time you go to Morocco, try to go to the poor and find semeone that may need you to adopt them financially. Help someone or even a family, even if you can send them a $20 a month for their kids or help a young Orphan. Shop for a poor elderly or for a mentally ill or a homeless in Morocco.

We should learn to be organized and committed to a cause. We MUST HELP. It is the greatest reward, to give to those who need us the MOST, & Please, DO NOT FORGET ZAKAT AND SADAQAH. Good Luck , Salame
