 Tatik Bakkal  [Moroccan Of The Month: February, 2013]
Tatik Bakkal, better known by his stage name, YungT aka Ytm50C was born in Casablanca, Morocco. He later immigrated with his family in 1999 to the Bronx in New York. YungT aspired to be a recording artist, so he decided to take a traditional approach to get his foot in the door. In 2008, YungT made his first video as a means to showcase his talent as a HipHop artist and a new voice from the Boston streets.

Kaoutar is a young Moroccan singer-songwriter. She was born and raised in El Jadida, Morocco where she attended Groupe Scolaire l'Ange Bleu before moving to New York, USA to complete her studies. She holds a bachelors degree in Business Administration and Marketing and communication, and is currently completing her MBA in Marketing at Brooklyn College, New York.

Mr Rachid Tajiouti Is a Chef and restaurant owner. He owned 'Le bistro' in Revere, Boston, 'Caprichiol' , 'Carbonara' and 'Pastability' in Montreal. Mr Rachid Came to New York in 1987 from Casablanca (Morocco) where he pursued his education. He got his TOEFL in 1988, then he completed SERVE SAFE PROGRAM at The National education Restaurant association in Boston 1995. He also graduated as a travel agent from Travel Education Centre in Cambridge (Mass), but his love of the culinary world brought him where he is today as a renowned Restaurateur. Rachid worked side by side with TV star chef Geoffrey Zackarian in the opening of Royalton Hotel in NYC (1992).

 Dr. Ahmed Yanouri  [Moroccan Of The Month: June, 2012]
Mr. Ahmed Yanouri, Ph.D., is a businessman in the hospitality sector. Married for 17 years to Lourdes, with whom he had 3 children, Lamia, Omar and Yahya, he is also a community volunteer and has a passion for humanity. Mr. Ahmed Yanouri was born in Berkane, Morocco , where he grew up and received his early education. He then moved to Rabat where he got his bachelor’s degree from Mohamed V University, in 1983. Soon after that, he moved to the USA to pursue his graduate studies. In 1990, he graduated with a PhD in Molecular Biology from UNT & TWU in Denton, Texas. Immediately after graduation, he worked as a Post Doctoral fellow at SMU in Dallas, Texas. His research concentrated on the study of Penicillin Binding proteins in the bacterium Bacillus subtilis. The results of the research were published in the journal of Bacteriology and were presented in multiple conferences in both the US and internationally.

Nabela Conte ( born Benaissa) is a New York attorney with a general practice emphasizing litigation, matrimonial law and immigration. She also provides diverse legal services to startups and small businesses. Nabela was born and raised in Brussels. However she spent all her summers in Tangier, Morroco where the roots of her family are and where her grand-parents still live. She grew up speaking French at school and Arabic at home.

Sara is from Casablanca and has moved to the United States when she was 17 years old. She graduated in May 2011 with a Bachelor in Finance & Business Law and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Her great grandfather Loukach (Lucas) was a philosopher and doctor who came from Spain in the 14th century to settle in Tetouan. He founded “Madrasat Loukach” in the old Medina which was the first private school/college in the country.

 Hicham Souisse  [Moroccan Of The Month: September, 2011]
Mohammed "Hicham" Souisse was born and raised in Safi, Morocco. As a child, he played soccer in the streets of Safi which fueled his passion for the sport. By the age of 7 he was a thet academy, honing his skills for the next 8 years. At the age of 15, Olympic of Safi signed a contract with Hicham and he played for the next seven years. During that time, he was called up several times to the U18 National team of Morocco. In 1999, he signed a contract with Raja Casablanca which he played for 6 months until family circumstances forced him to return to Safi. He continued playing with OCS until 2005 when a knee injury forced him to retire from professional play.

He was born to one of the old Andalusian families in Tetouan, Morocco and grew up immersed in the Andalusian musical tradition. Tarik has performed for such notables as Queen Sofia of Spain and Princess Haifa Al-Saud while his musicianship has complimented the albums of flamenco and Jazz masters such as Paco de Lucia, Manolo Sanlucar, Enrique Morente and Jorge Pardo where Tarik introduced such mainstays the darbuka (clay or metal drum) and Udu (clay pot drum).

 Mohamed Zefzaf   [Moroccan Of The Month: September, 2009]
At the age of 21, Mohamed Zefzaf moved to America and started a new life. He attended the University of Massachusetts, graduating with undergraduate degrees in Human Geography and Sociology. He then obtained a Master’s degree in ESL/Linguistics.He has been teaching English as a Second Language for nearly 20 years at Massbay Community College. In between that he also went on sabbatical and taught at the International Institute of Tourism in Malabata, Tangier in 1996-97.

I was born in 1978 in Casablanca but I grew up in a small city called Khouribga where my father worked as a civil engineer. Absent the internet at the time and given the scarce learning resources in town, I was blessed with having a mother determined to make me succeed amidst adversity. An example of my mum’s determination was going above and beyond to persuade a catholic nun to give me private French and English lessons and saving money secretly to enroll me in distant classes with a school located in France to master both languages.

 Sondra Barker   [Moroccan Of The Month: May, 2009]
Sondra Barker was originally born in Morocco, Africa and raised in NY. She eventually moved to Oahu, Hawaii and studied for 5yrs at The University of Hawaii Manoa majoring in Sociology and Women's Studies. While in Hawaii Sondra got her first start in the Entertainment Industry acting in short and feature Independant Films Showcase in the Hawaii Film Festival. Her first large Theatrical productions was The HoneyMooners at The Hawaii Theatre starring Pat Sajak. Sondra also began modeling after winning the Venus Swimwear model search and soon after hosted an Episode of Wild on E's Tropical Paradise.

Born in Mohammedia Morocco in 1972, Zine Mazouzi studied management in Rabat prior to his move to New York to pursue his education. In 1996, He graduated from IONA College’s Hagan School of business with a Bachelor degree in Finance and International Business. Zine was then offered a full academic scholarship, a graduate assistantship and went on to complete his MBA in 1998.Zine graduated with a summa cum laude distinction, made the Dean’s honor list every single semester and was inducted to the National Scholastic Honor Society. Immediately after graduation, Zine joined the International department of Nine West Footwear Corp in New York.  Leila Hanafi  [Moroccan Of The Month: March, 2009]
Leila is a recent Moroccan-American Honors graduate from American University and Georgetown University in Washington DC. Leila is currently a lawyer working on judicial reforms to strengthen the rule of law worldwide, and pursuing post-graduate studies in international law and development at Georgetown University in Washington DC. Leila’s background and interests are broad in nature. She grew up in part in Southern Africa as the daughter of a diplomat. Since then, she has continued to pursue her international interests. Living abroad has given her the skills necessary to adopt new languages and adapt to new cultures, at the same time demonstrating the interrelatedness of all cultures, politics, and economies all around the globe. Leila is a strong advocate for women and youth’s rights and empowerment. Her work through various University campus organizations and as the Director of the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area’s International Law Committee, Co-Chair of the UNA Andrew Rice for Global Education Fund, Director of the Maghreb Center Youth Committee, United Nations fellow, and founder of an Arab Young Women Legal Development Network is testimony of her dedication.

 Nada Elmajdoub  [Moroccan Of The Month: February, 2009]
Nada is a Deputy Project Manager at Alliance Wood Group Engineering. She provides guidance and support for all aspects of execution of multimillion dollars offshore engineering projects. Before joining Alliance, she worked as a Mechanical Engineer at one of the world’s premier engineering, procurement and construction management companies (JE). Nada holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from LSU and a Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Ingénieurs en Constructions Aéronautiques (ENSICA) in Toulouse, France. She entered l’ENSICA after two years of Math Sup/ Math Spé in Casablanca and obtained her Baccalauréat with Honors in June 2000.

 Bouchra Adyel  [Moroccan Of The Month: January, 2009]
Bouchra was born and raised in Casablanca; she attended Groupe Scolaire d’Anfa then moved to the US at the age of 16 to finish her studies. She completed her A.A.S. and B.S. degrees in Computer Science. She also holds an MBA degree with a concentration in International Business from the University of Houston. Bouchra was an active board member of several student organizations; she was even elected as the first student to ever chair a Senate Committee and directly reported to the College President. She was awarded the Who's Who Among Students, Dean’s List, Phi Theta Kappa, Honors List… and about 10 scholarships for her academic and leadership achievements.  Mohamed Rali Badissy  [Moroccan Of The Month: December, 2008]
Mohamed is an attorney in New York, NY. He is currently a law clerk to the Honorable William H. Walls in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey. Prior to becoming a law clerk, Mohamed practiced for two years at Latham & Watkins LLP in their New York and Dubai offices. He practiced in the field of International Law, representing private persons and States in disputes before the U.S. Courts and international arbitration tribunals. Mohamed has also worked at the United Nations as an assistant to the Iraqi Sanctions Committee and as a special education teacher in Los Angeles, CA. Mohamed completed his B.A. in Diplomacy and World Affairs at Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA. He also earned a law degree from the University of Washington where he was awarded high honors and national recognition for his oral advocacy skills. Mohamed was very excited to co-host the first annual AMPA ( http://www.amp-usa.org/) fundraiser in New York on October 25th. The event raised over ten thousand dollars for the education of rural school girls in Morocco. Mohamed looks forward to working with AMPA as its VP of Policy to produce great events like these in the future.

 Mohammed Fdal  [Moroccan Of The Month: November, 2008]
For most of his life, Mohammed Fdal has been seeking new challenges. In 1986, he joined Group ONA in Morocco. He held the TQM Division Head position within the Corporation. The position was the first in its kind, and as an independent advisor he offered consulting services in quality management for large and medium size organizations. Mohammed Fdal holds a master in engineering from College of Mines in France. In 1996 he published a book: "Morocco: Quality and Future Challenges" that inspired many companies in Morocco to launch a Total Quality Management Program and ISO Certification. In 1999 he moved to Boston in the U.S., where he earned an MBA degree from Suffolk University, and after only few years, he was been able to held an executive position at Potomac Electric, a General Electric Engineering Services Provider. In 2003 he was among the first 200 engineers in the U.S. to be certified "Six Sigma Black Belt" by the America Society of Quality. In 2004, he founded Omar Financial Services, now a leading provider of tax, financial, accounting and real estate services in the New England area. Since he opened the business, he has helped hundreds to thousands of Moroccans living in the U.S achieve their "America Dream": start a business, buy a house or get a degree or a certificate. These are just a few of the many things he has helped his fellow countrymen achieve.

 Hicham Kabbaj  [Moroccan Of The Month: October, 2008]
Hicham is the president of the association of Moroccan Professionals in America http://www.amp-usa.org/, he joined the association in 2005 as Events Vice President and was elected in May 2008 as its second president. Hicham is a Senior Project Controls at one of the world's premier engineering, construction and project management companies. He joined Bechtel after graduating from Purdue University with a BS in Management and Minor in Finance and MIS. Hicham has a vast experience in construction management and energy projects, he was a key member in some of the company signature projects. He was awarded the certificate of achievement multiple times during his 9 years with Bechtel. Hicham obtained his MBA from Istituto de Empresa, and founded www.marocevents.ma, first portal of professional events in Morocco. He enjoys playing Tennis and he is originally from Rabat.

 Hanane Zelouani Idrissi  [Moroccan Of The Month: September, 2008]
Hanane has over 9 years professional experience in nonprofit and business. Hanane works with the MENA program at the National Endowment for Democracy in Washington, DC, a donor organization. Her main responsibility is to develop and coordinate work with civil society in Iraq. She also worked with Vital Voices Global Partnership as a MENA program Manager. She has more than 11 years nonprofit experience in Morocco as a volunteer and board member with Union de L’Action Feminine Association in Casablanca- UAF. Before coming to USA, she worked as a Senior Research Analyst with the multinational Nielsen, as a Liaison and Marketing Coordinator with South Korea Chamber of Commerce in Casablanca, and as a Market Research Executive with LMS Marketing. Hanane was born and raised in Casablanca. She has a Master’s degree in Humanities and Social Sciences from Alakhawayn University in Morocco and a diploma in marketing and communication from ESIG-Casablanca.

 Amine Benneftah  [Moroccan Of The Month: August, 2008]
Amine is a Sr. Project Manager with Art.com, a leading internet retailer, managing multiple IT projects including international brand expansion, affiliates networks, search engine optimization, back office systems and order fulfillment. Prior to joining Art.com, he spent seven years with AT&T, a global Telecom leader, where he led and delivered projects ranging from Member Acquisition, Billing and CRM to Member Support and Online Applications for Internet Services. Amine is currently Fundraising Director and Treasurer for Morocco Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to children schooling and education in Morocco. He played a key role in organizing the November 2006 San Francisco Fundraising event sponsored by Morocco Foundation and AMPA (Association of Moroccan Professionals in America) to benefit the "Schools Without Borders" project in Essaouira.

 Hakim Benmoussa  [Moroccan Of The Month: July, 2008]
Hakim emigrated to the United States in 1994, Hakim worked as a dish washer and waiter while learning English, he then studies political sciences at UNCC and fire sciences at the Columbia Southern University. Hakim worked as an operations manager for Loomis Fargo Armored Services in Charlotte, NC and Atlanta, GA after which he decided to join the fire service as a firefighter with Dekalb County Fire and Rescue in GA and graduated from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center. Hakim moved to Arizona in 2003 where he worked as a fire inspector/investigator and was a member of the Maricopa County Arson Investigation Task force. Hakim currently is an Acting Captain with the fire department. He is also an elected member of the executive board of the International Association of Firefighters. Hakim has pursed many educational and training opportunities in the field of Aircraft Crash Rescue, Hazardous Materials and fire service management through the National Fire Academy.

 Benyounes Tahiri  [Moroccan Of The Month: June, 2008]
Benyounes Tahiri was born and raised in Berkane. He studied tourism in the Tangier Institute of Tourism. After a brief journey that started in Nice ville Franche sur-mer in the summer of 1969, then London in 1970 then Montreal one year later, he moved to Indianan on October 25 1971. In 1972 he moved to San Fransisco , 1973 Hawai till 1974 where he worked as a life guard in Sheraton Waikiki. 1974 was the start of special journey around the world, visting over 30 countries (he started from Honoloulou to Tokyo for 20 days then Korea, Taiwan then Hong Kong, one month later Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia then back to Thailand. One a moth later he visited Singapore then back to Thailand to see Cambodia, Laos. Then Burma & India, Bangladesh, Nepal Ceylone where he spent three months.
