Fixes to the banning of magic Jack in Morocco

By The Wafin Team

js/jquery.reveal.js As many of you know, Magic Jack was blocked in Morocco by Maroc Telecom. We have received a fix to this by one of our members that we would like to share with you. Please let us know if this worked for you, and if you have another or a better fix, do not hesitate to share it with us.

This is a two part fix:

Part 1

This involves downloading a fix from the Magic Jack Website.
Go to;   http://www.magicjack.com,
At the lower bottom part of the page click on
"Customer Care/Live Agent"

Then click on "Important"

Then click on "Fix" According to the Error message

Part 2

This requires some technical understanding. You might want to have your family in Morocco seek the help of someone who is a little technical. For this to work you must be connected to the Internet using a router.

- Open port 5060 and 5070 UDP on ALL firewalls and your router, if

you have one. (Router ports can be opened via the web application

applicable to your router).

How to access Web Application for router

  1. Start > Run > Type in cmd > Press ENTER
  2. A command prompt will open
  3. Type ipconfig > press ENTER
  4. Make note / write down name of the default gateway and IP address
  5. Open your Internet Browser
  6. Type in the default gateway IP (Example: 192.168.1.1)
  7. Type in Username and Password
  8. Find "Port Forwarding" and Forward Port 5060 and 5070 UDP for the IP address you located earlier.
Good luck.

My brother tried the upgrade ( Part 1), he is still getting error 3.
May be Maroc Telecom already found out about this fix.

Part 2 is only for people using wireless router, Am i right?

wafin077 : Hello fellow Moroccans,
We need to find a solution and get together against this monopolism! I can't believe that Maroc Telecom really blocked Majic Jack! I have sent two and no wonder they have stopped working!! Wa mossiba ma3 had almaghrib!!! Does anyone thinks this is legal? Can Maroc Telecom block this and deprive us from benefiting from the use of this product?
Please feel free to share your inputs.
Salam.
HB.

zmazouzi : My brother had step 1 and 2 done a few days after the "block" and we were up and running in no time. I can call and receive calls from Morocco. My understanding from him is that the router part is key in getting this to work.
Best of luck.
ZM

bayfig : You can do it yourself for your family in Morocco by logging in to their network remotely. Teamviewer is a great remote access tool to any PC in the world connected to the internet. teamviewer.com

sharing_02 : Bad News,,,,,,,,seriously there is no solution for Device (Magic Jack) which got blocked in Morocco by that Company -dial ji3anin wa chafara Maroc telecom,,,because even if you open the port 5060 and 5070 in your firewall,it is already closed in Maroc telecom''s server,,,i tried so hard to fix this problem with Agent from Magic jack company,,,,we found there is only one port 5060 and 5070 has been blocked,,,to make magic jack ready to call again, Magic jack company must change their ports and use many of them & they should put these ports on private,,,that's all what i can tell until now, by the way my name's Yasin(from Portland the beautiful city),,,if you all of you guys have any questions I'll be glad to help you out,,specially in Computers, operating systems or network system, for sure if we found any new to solve this problem we'll let you know,,,,soon as possible,,,thank U.

mraissam : walou , dont even bother , these things happens when moroccans keep saying we love our country no matter how it is .... your country doesn't even want you to talk to ur parents :-)
hope one day people will wake up .....

AWATIFD : %95 of Moroccan don’t have a router, so basically your solution is ineffective.
Solution : www.ultravpn.com download the vpn application install >>>>> then connect to vpn in order to hide your traffic from the unskilled , brainless, hmir dial Maroc Telecom, You know I learned so much about firewall, VPN, SSl and VPN tunnels……Thank you Maroc Telecom I had a good education and a working Magic jack now.

realmoroccan : I am sure samething happen to all of us..We though the Majicjack not working, we bough an otherones But the Maroc-Telecom blocked the service..I think we should make a signing list and send to what they Called.. Wizzarat al Jaliya...Walla hadak Majless Jaliya..Li Kaykloo flousso ghir Hakkak...Allah yan3al li May7shem

casawi35 : All magic jack owners.
Please contact magic jack and let them know about this problem and what "Maroc Telecom" is doing. this is wrong and it is pure monopoly of the commuincation systems in Morocco. no wonder we left that country.

jamaal : This is sad because I was just catching on to magic jack, but as they say all things must come to an end, mashaallah.I guess I'll stick with phone cards and msn messenger and the iphone, but a more serious problem is the monopoly on airplane service.I'm married and have a family it is very hard to go and visit my family. Is this some type of punishment for living abroad? Of course when I visit I must bring gifts it's only right? Maybe they'll make a train or bus or even a ship that goes to morocco.

Aliwat : Has anyone wonder why phone calls to Morocco are the most expensive ones comparing to many other countries including Algeria.? For example, if you make a phone call from let say United Stated through AT&T carrier, the call will have to cross the Telecom Maroc network to reach the destination "your relatives". The interconnect which is the charge or an invoice of using one carrier's network is then sent to the source where the call is originated from. Telecom Maroc charges a very high rate more than any other carrier in the world. it's a clear cut of Telecom Maroc saying who is gives a damn about Moroccans abroad. Unlike other countries where even the Governments are subsidizing these charges to help their citizens abroad. Moroccan emigrants play a major role in the Moroccan economy and yet neither the private nor the public sector gives a rat of its citizens.

nas79 : I bought Majic Jack two years ago. My family still using it with no problem, i can call them and they can call me. The only thing that i can think of that may cause the issue if you active Majic Jack in Morocco.

Thanks

habibiyanourl3in : I have a friend who can call from any phone in the usa to a magic jack in Casablanca in Morocco withoui a problem. Maybe the majic jack is blocked in all other Moroccan cities but not in Casablanca???

sino1969 : hi
this is a solution that i got from a magic jack agent its a work around the blocking of VOIP services .
please download and install the following app and magic jack will run again.
http://www.hotspotshield.com/downloads/thank-you-US/?type=na&p=ftp

i still did not try it hope it will work as they said

adilel : I was able to switch to INWI and use the MajicJack. There is another way: If you know someone who can create a VPN (Virtual Private Network) tunnel for you. You can login to VPN and use the MajicJack. This solution is not for everybody but Maroc Telecom will not be able to detect your traffic.
Thanks

hicham123 : Actually the fix is simple. In short, by encrypting the communication, morocco does not know what to block, so it would work, along with skype and anything else they block.
So download hotspot shield (free VPN). Install it.
Then a web opens, and would then CONNECT. (When connected you have a BOG button in red that says DISCONNECT).
OK if you MJ was opened, close it. Reopen it and voila!
Same thing with skype. close and reopen and it will work as well. Just remember one thing: since the communication is encrypted it is slower, so, if your moroccan party uses I would say anything less than 1MB download and 0.5 Upload, don;t bother. If faster, then you are good!
